powerxtend software to all android makers

LucidLogix is a company you might have heard around the push for bringing multi-GPU setups in desktops without having a huge performance loss, and since then the company has undergone tough times including going through bankruptcy. Now, it's back, and its newest software technology PowerXtend comes with a huge promise - up to 50% in battery savings.
LucidLogix already has a partnership with Samsung over this (we don’t know which exact devices use it, though), but it is now opening up the software for licensing by other Android device makers as well. This is not a Google Play application, though - it's low-level software that has to be implemented by the manufacturer.
LucidLogix has split the PowerXtend battery saving algorithms in three - WebXtend, NavXtend, and GameXtend. All of them are built upon proprietary hardware management and load balancing workflow that will allow extending battery life on Android devices. GameXtend is the particular technology that offers the highest up to 50% better battery longevity, while NavXtend and WebXtend promise up to 25% savings. The essence of all is in improved management of graphics processor load, but further details about how the technology works are sealed.
The company even backs up its claim with specific numbers, using Angry Birds Rio to test the battery life:
“The new Lucid WebXtend and NavXtend™ software products can increase power longevity by up to 50 percent for battery-demanding applications like Internet exploration and GPS navigation. … The playing time of Angry Birds Rio on a Samsung GALAXY S4 is extended from 4.75 hours to over 8.5 hours, an extra four hours of game play.”
All of those improvements will obviously not happen overnight, but having more phone makers on board with this seems like a win for both consumers and battery life, don’t you think?
