ZOPO's Speed 7 is the smaller brother of the two recently released phones  – Speed 7 and Speed 7 plus. The main differences between the two are size, battery and price, with the latter being bigger, carrying a larger capacity battery and having a slightly inflated price tag than the former.

The Speed 7 places itself in the mid to high range smartphones, spec-wise. With its octa-core 64-bit CPU and 3GB of RAM, the device is aggressively priced at $199.99, giving it a strong edge over its competitors in its market segment.

Design and Build Quality

ZOPO has three different phone series. The Color, the Flash and the Speed series. The Speed series represents the highest quality phones from the company, and the design and build quality embody and reflect that perspective. The phone can be purchased in black or white, but the streamlined and elegant design remains the same. Design and taste are always subjective and depend on people's opinion, however we can comfortably say that the Speed 7 looks good, and might even turn some heads with its sophisticated frame-less display and button-free front panel.

The material used looks not only sturdy and well built, but also manages to provide a comfortable grip for the user. Plastic is the main material, cleverly assembled and textured in a way that translates into a premium and expensive looking device.

Performance and Features

Performance is where the Speed 7 really stands out and makes it clear that this is one of the best smartphones on the market today when it comes to value. At $199, very few devices can claim to own 3GB of RAM and a 64-bit octa-core CPU. In fact, in some markets in particular (such as India, and others), the Speed 7 is the cheapest smartphone available with 3GB of RAM. And trust us, those 3GB of RAM make the difference when the time comes to have multiple apps running simultaneously in the background. The Speed 7 always keeps its cool and smooth functionality, even when dealing with demanding 3D games.

Android 5.1, together with the Z-UI interface provide an incredible ease-of-use and fluidity that makes it fun even to just interact with the menus and settings of the device. The phone also comes with some very popular apps pre-instaled, such as Facebook and WhatsApp, just to name a few. Unlike what happens with other phones, these apps are actually useful and used by most people, and their inclusion doesn't feel invasive and/or excessive.

Display and Cameras

The Speed 7 is one of the few smartphones with a price tag around $200 that can boast about having a full HD 1080p display! With a 5" screen, the visual experience is very good all around. Watching videos, visualizing or editing pictures or playing games, the visual fidelity and colors always keep up with high quality. It must be noted  however, that the Speed 7 display does not come protected with Corning Gorilla Glass, so you might want to be careful in trying to keep the screen protected.

The Speed 7 has a 13.2MP rear camera with flash LED light included. Picture quality is good, even at night. Plus, the phone includes its own image editor software and a face-beauty function that acts in real time (if selected) with the 5MP front camera.

ZOPO's Speed 7 perfectly owns its place has one of the best smartphones within its price range. At $199, you would be very hard pressed to find much better alternatives. There is nothing particularly fantastic or mind blowing about the Speed7, however, everything that it sets itself up to do, it does well! And that's something not many other devices can claim about themselves. It's all about the value. If you're looking for an affordable smartphone, yet also interested in powerful and efficient specs, then the Speed 7 is made for you!
